Family therapy is a specialty area of mine, one that I have been working in for over ten years. This could be work with parents and their children, helping to create more stable and functional home dynamics. Work with siblings in order to strengthen their relationships and adjust behaviors within the family unit. Or work with parents and their adult children, helping the family heal past hurts. No matter if the family is biological, adoptive, or blended, I can guide the family system to a more balanced and happier state. I give my families tools to help them navigate dynamics now, and into the future, ensuring the family continues to strengthen and grow.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I consult with families who have a loved one with an eating disorder. Families are in the dark when it comes to knowing how to handle the day-to-day functioning with their family member, how to help, where to go for appropriate expert treatment and how to approach their loved one with their concerns. Often families use their natural instincts to help and find they are making the problems worse. Sometimes husbands or wives need help addressing their worries to their mates as well. This is very tricky, but can be facilitated with help. I offer support, information, specific guidelines and resources for families who hire me in this type of scary situation.

Sometimes a child or one family member is brought in for treatment of an issue that may actually have more to do with interactions between family members than a problem specific to this identified client. The psychologists at Lepage Associates believe that some of the issues that come up for children are due to interaction styles between family members and that a holistic, family therapy approach is the most effective treatment. Our psychologists approach family work with an awareness of each family member needs while also respecting parenting styles and cultural differences in childrearing.
