Change is hard. Our brokenness runs deeper in us than we wish, but so does our capacity for growth and change. My Christian perspective gives me a helpful frame for grappling with and understanding this tension: It gives me great compassion for how challenging it can be (due to our brokenness) to grow and change, and it also gives me great hope for each person's innate ability to change (because of God's protecting within us the capacity for healing). I would be honored to help you deepen your faith as you wrestle with God, your brokenness and your untapped capacity for change. And in so doing help you to become more whole, more free, more the person God created you to be.

Are you looking for counseling, but want a therapist who shares your Christian faith? My Christian faith has always been an essential part of my life, which is why, when I decided to become a psychotherapist, I chose to get my degree in pastoral counseling at what is now Loyola University Maryland. I consider my relationship with God to be an essential part of my ability to help my counseling clients. I also find shared aspects of Christian faith to be very useful when working with Christian clients; drawing upon our common beliefs can be a rich source of healing. Please contact me today so we can discuss the ways in which I can help you to reach your goals.

Faith is such a huge part of a person and often times people feel like they are asked to divorce their spiritual health from their mental health. From my perspective this is not possible. While I am not here to replace your form of spiritual guidance, I am here to help you integrate your faith into who you are as a person. Whether it is addressing trauma's experienced as a result of people from our faith, or finding ways to more fully embrace our faith for healing, I am here to help you see how fulfilling faith can be when we allow all parts of ourselves to interact with it.

Several of our counselors are Christian. Our job is not to talk about our faith, but to help you figure out the role it plays in your life. We can incorporate spirituality as much or as little as you like in your sessions. Finding purpose and meaning helps many manage their mental health. When we struggle emotionally, people often lose their faith. believing in something bigger than yourself can be hopeful.

As Christians, we are not immune to human pain and suffering. We read that “it was for freedom that Christ set us free” (Galatians 5:1, NASB), but sometimes we feel like slaves of anxiety, depression, relationship problems, or something else. So what does freedom look like for you? I invite you to begin a Christian Counseling journey, where your faith intersects with the tools of psychology in compassionate, judgment-free sessions. I learned to integrate Christian faith and psychology in my graduate training. Prior to graduate school, I worked for six years as a discipleship counselor for women in a local Christian ministry. Please contact me for more information.

I believe faith in God is a powerful and essential part of overcoming suffering and adversity in our lives. Therefore, I integrate faith based techniques to the counseling relationship and process for my clients who are believers. I have found over my years of clinical practice that spiritual faith based healing strategies are definitely the most powerful. Also, faith based strategies are very helpful in creating a happy, healthy, and successful life, so I include those in executive, business, and personal coaching as well.

I know firsthand the importance of faith in the midst of struggles. Having worked in hospital systems for many years, I find that one of the greatest joys of private practice is to be able to incorporate my Christian faith and background into my work with individuals who are recovering from difficult experiences. Together we can pray, seek out God's word in relation to present day struggles, and even ask big "why" questions. It is an honor when I am allowed to share in the faith journey and healing of others by welcoming Jesus into our work together.

In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus states “If your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light.” This simple statement guides my approach to counseling. The light exists, and we sometimes need help to improve the soundness of our mental and emotional “eyes” to let more light into our personal awareness and influence our feelings, thoughts and behavior. I respect the sacred and unique way that each person experiences a relationship with God, especially during periods of mental, emotional, or relational distress. From my own study of the Bible, I am continually impressed by the applicability of Christian values and truth to issues of mental, emotional, and relational health.
