At this workshop caregivers and professionals will learn about the psychological and physiological roots of anxiety, why it is on the rise in our children, and what to do to help children better manage it. Research and theory in the field of mental health and interpersonal neurobiology will be explored and attendees will be given resources and direct tools to help their child, or the children they work with, overcome this emotional obstacle. This presentation is appropriate for parents, caregivers, teachers, and mental health professionals.
Refreshments will be provided at the event but particpants will need to take care of their lunch (a break will be provided between 12:00-1:00pm).
Tammy Schamuhn, Registered Psychologist, and Executive Director of Family Counselling Centres in Leduc, Beaumont, and Edmonton will be presenting. She has been working in Alberta for the past four years helping children and teens who struggle with anxiety. Tammy specializes in play therapy, trauma, and animal-assisted therapy. Tammy also has background in education and has cumulatively 16 years experience working with children and adolescents.
