My Approach to Therapy

It has been described that working with me as a therapist is “like talking to a friend who doesn’t judge and who knows a lot about mental health.” I firmly believe that you are the expert of your life and that my role is to help guide or heal what is already within you. I work with individuals, couples, and families ranging in age from very young to very experienced. I have been a therapist for over 15 years and my areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, C-PTSD, self-harm and suicide ideation, substance use, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, chronic pain, life transitional concerns, disabilities, pre and postnatal issues. I utilize a variety of therapy modalities (including CBT, DBT, ACT, and EMDR) and firmly believe in every individual’s capacity for healing and growth when met with empathy and when given the right tools to succeed.

How Therapy can Help

Seeing a therapist can be helpful when you come up to any challenge in life whether that challenge is minor or seems insurmountable, or devastating.  Therapy ranges in duration. Sometimes people require a few sessions and others require longer term help to address years of trauma or ongoing emotional regulation issues. Therapy can help you to discover your inner strengths and options for meeting life’s challenges.  And if I’m not able to schedule you in a timely manner, I have an incredible team of colleagues at my clinic who would be happy to help you.

Book your free consultation with no commitment to get to know me and find answers to any questions you have about my services. Please call me at 289-783-4400 or email info@thehealthretreat.ca if you wish to have a 15-minute phone consultation or if you have any questions about working with me or my team.
