Relationships are challenging. They don't have to be a battle. My belief is that individuals and families have the
ability to improve their communication skills and lives regardless of past and present
circumstances. It is my goal to assist you in identifying the interactive patterns and life
experiences that have led you to a place where you feel “stuck”, out of
control or unsatisfied with life or your relationships. Additionally, I have a passion for working
with both children and parents who are struggling through the painful process of
divorce. I enter into each new
partnership with my clients from a place of compassion and belief in their
strengths, and feel strongly that judgment has no place in the counseling
room.
I hold a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family
Therapy from Portland State University, and a Bachelors Degree in Nutritional
Science, with minors in Business Administration and Spanish from San Jose State
University.
My major coursework
included: Counseling Theory, Diagnosis, Human Lifespan Development, Advanced
Family Therapy, Group Therapy, Human Sexuality, Social and Cultural Issues,
Counseling Research, Substance Abuse, Career Counseling, Couples Counseling,
Ethics and Crisis Intervention.
I have
strong experience working with individuals, couples and high-risk youth with
behavioral issues and their families.
Additionally, I have designed and facilitate empowerment and self-esteem
workshops for pre-adolescent and adolescent girls.
I am a Registered Intern with the Oregon
Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists and I will abide by
its Code of Ethics.
