I believe that therapy is most effective when it is built on a foundation of mutual trust, understanding and connection. Among the benefits is the experience of being truly seen, heard and understood, perhaps for the first time.
MY APPROACH
Our work together will be a joint endeavor to understand your present difficulties and find a path toward greater ease, satisfaction, and meaning in life.
Toward this end, we will form a trusting relationship over time, dig deep, and make sense of what we discover. It will be serious business -- because your struggles deserve to be taken seriously — but it will not only be serious. There will also be room for laughter and the celebration of victories, large and small. Learning self-compassion and mindfulness will be part of the process.
SERVICES
I provide individual psychotherapy to adults 18 and up. Sessions are 55 minutes long.

» Improved Coping
You
will learn coping skills that will help you manage feelings and
behaviors that are causing emotional pain or interfering with
functioning. These will include:
- Calming and grounding practices
- Self-compassion techniques
- Perspective-taking
- Effective ways of communicating your feelings and needs
» Improved Self-understanding
You will come to see yourself more clearly and begin to differentiate between your true self and the person that family and society said you should be. Over time, this can bring relief from your symptoms and better functioning.
» Transformative Change
If therapy goes well and you stick with it, you can expect to work through the negative feelings and beliefs that underlie your struggles, and in so doing, find peace, growth, and meaning in life.
