I am a licensed counselor at Great Oaks Counseling, just north of Oak View Mall in Omaha.  I have been in practice at Great Oaks since February of 2015.  Before this, I was out in Colorado for 3 years working on my Master's degree.  I studied Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Denver Seminary and graduated in December of 2014.  I chose to go to a seminary for my counseling degree because I enjoyed looking at where the principles of psychology intersected with the foundations of the Christian faith.  Issues of spirituality and faith are welcomed to be discussed in counseling sessions with me since I do have this experience, but it is not required or expected of you.  Before graduate school I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

Great Oaks Counseling is in the second floor of a two-story office building at the end of Gold Circle Drive.  As you walk in the front doors, you will find a warm, comfortable waiting area with plenty of couches to relax on as you wait.  In the front of the room is the receptionist's window, and they will be able to help you with any remaining questions you may have that might not have been answered through your talk with me on the phone.  They will also be able to take your payment and provide you with paperwork to be filled out at the first appointment.  Then it's just a matter of waiting for your appointment time at which point I will come out and greet you in the waiting area.  My own office is comfortable as well with three seats and two windows.  I know that talking about yourself in counseling can be difficult since I have done it myself, but my goal is that you will feel as comfortable as possible, and the setting at Great Oaks certainly helps to make the atmosphere feel warm and familiar.

Feel free to call with any questions you may have about the counseling process.  Some people have been in counseling before and have a good idea of what to expect, for others it is their first time and might have no clue.  That is ok!  Ask me about payment, scheduling, my methods, my goals, and anything else before deciding to enter counseling that will make the decision easier for you.  I'm so glad that you are looking into counseling for yourself and I hope you find someone to work with that is a good fit for you.
