So, here you are, looking for a therapist. You're scrolling through profiles; can't decide who to go with. The process can be overwhelming. Right? I mean, it can be just as intimidating as online dating these days. Why pick me? Well, people tell me I'm relatable, funny, welcoming, and approachable.  What sets me apart from other therapists? I believe in offering feedback and teaching practical and effective skills and strategies. I want you to be able to leave even our initial session with at least one adaptive coping mechanism that you can start incorporating immediately. 

But you're probably wanting to know about my qualifications and stuff like that, so here it goes... I've been working with adults with depression, anxiety, and substance use issues for over 25 years. But, seriously, haven't I aged well? 

I've worked in agency settings for many years, wearing various hats, ranging from Clinician to Director. I was involved in the development. launching and administration of The Drug Court Program in New Haven from 2002 through 2013. I've presented at conferences at the local and national levels and have provided expert testimony in various courts of law. But, did I mention how well I've aged? 

I have been in private practice since I established Associates in Psychotherapy, LLC in 2011. I provide therapy within a framework of empirically based treatment. My approach is very interactive and dynamic. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is my modality of choice, but I am multifaceted in my approach.  I will coordinate care with your prescriber in the event that medication management is part of your treatment plan. In addition, I will collaborate with any other providers whom you would like involved in your care.  I exclusively offer telehealth sessions with day, afternoon, evening and weekend availability.  I can see you as early as 7am or as late as 8PM during the week and in the morning or afternoon on Saturdays. 

In addition to being a therapist, I am a wife, a mother of two boys, ages 9 and 11, a fur mom to two one-year-old pups, and a breast cancer survivor.  In addition, I am first generation Portuguese-American and can relate to acculturation and the challenges it brings. I am also fluent in Portuguese.
