Trauma therapy
I've counselled survivors of trauma, PTSD, sexual abuse, and sexual assault for more than ten years. My articles on trauma have appeared in major psychology journals, and I was the chaplain for the Emergency, Intensive Care, and Burn Units at a major hospital. I've been cited over 4,000 times in academic papers.
You can't heal past trauma on your own: You need help, and that's where I come in.
Please know I only counsel people online. If you prefer in-person appointments, that's great, but I can't help you.
The most frequent question I get is whether I do EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprogramming). It's trendy, it's widely used, and it is not among the treatments strongly recommended by the American Psychological Association. I follow APA recommendations, using techniques based on cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). Yes, it's time-consuming, but it can be astonishingly effective. If you're looking for a "fast-food" solution to PTSD, there isn't one.
