PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Richelle has considerable professional counseling experience working with a wide array of individuals, couples, and families. Sadness, anger, anxiety, and all other emotions are normal. However, emotions can feel so powerful at times that they become more of a hindrance to our lives than we can manage on our own. When this overstimulation happens, we can feel out of control, or we may even feel numb due to self-preservation. Not only do we suffer, but our close relationships ache in a similar way when we have not taken the necessary steps to heal. We owe it to ourselves and to our loved ones to feel well and to be content with both our life and relationships.
Richelle has over 15 years of experience serving, directing, and supporting individuals and families especially. She has dedicated innumerable hours working alongside children, adolescents, teens, caregivers, and individuals living with cognitive or intellectual disabilities as well as those with autism spectrum disorders. Richelle has also engaged in substantial involvement with families to help them overcome familial conflict, the effects of addiction, and improve the general dynamics within the family system. She has an earnest grasp on how to best guide people to cope with and recover from traumatic experiences while also being fully equipped to aid in other areas, whether that be couples and marital counseling, stress, anxiety, depression, parenting challenges, co-dependency, career changes, loss and grieving, PTSD, trauma, sexual abuse, sleep disorders, substance abuse, alcohol abuse, or any of the other limitless areas she is capable of offering wise council.
EDUCATION:
Richelle Reed obtained a Master of Social Work Degree from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, with an emphasis in Family Studies, from the University of Northern Colorado.
She employs a myriad of methods to facilitate growth and healing for her clients, including Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical-Behavior Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care and Strengths-Based Therapy.
THERAPEUTIC APPROACH:
Similar to how emotional pain and suffering can often originate within relationships, healing and growth must also stem from cultivating a healthy rapport with a competent counselor such as Richelle. She takes special care to nurture this relationship with her clients so that healing and growth come naturally during the process.
