As we move through life we often encounter obstacles like boulders in a river: you can’t always avoid them, but the key is to not get stuck on them. As a licensed professional clinical counselor and a relationship coaching specialist I empower individuals and couples to identify and overcome roadblocks to create more purposeful behavior and satisfying relationships. My therapeutic approach is solution-focused and client-centered. I help clients to achieve more powerful and long-lasting results by utilizing an integrative, practical, and evidence-based approach. I use the compassionate edge - a direct and compassionate approach that moves clients to a deeper acknowledgment of truth and an accelerated ability to take action.
I have a Masters degree in counseling psychology from the University of WI-Madison, and I’m also a certified stress reduction specialist. I have over 15 years of experience in the field, offering relationship counseling, family counseling, and individual counseling for stress, anxiety, depression, academic, career, and relationship issues. In addition to providing clinical and coaching services, I work to enhance the profession of mental health counseling through education and collaboration. I have been teaching in the field for over 10 years, and have recently begun offering internship opportunities to masters level counseling students to prepare the next generation of therapists. Just recently, I was elected to the Higher Education Council.
