I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) offering counselling in-person in Maple Ridge, Abbotsford, and Surrey and online across BC. My practice is focused on trauma care. Driven by compassion and empathy, my goal is to support you in embarking on a journey of self-discovery where you can unpack your experiences and explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement. As we grow up, we are largely influenced by our social environment and we learn to classify experiences as either black or white, but most of life happens in the gray. Navigating the gray can be tough, leaving you feeling trapped and alone. I hold the perspective that human suffering arises when we have difficulty reconciling the difference between our reality and our expectations, which can evoke complex emotions that may lead to disconnection from ourselves in the form of anxiety, depression, and emotional dysregulation. Engaging in therapy can provide a space for you to lighten your heart and open up about what happened to you so you can gain clarity on the direction you would like to move forward in from here.

My approach is integrative and holistic with a culturally responsive, developmentally sensitive lens influenced by an understanding of the impact of trauma on the brain and CBT as my main modality. In my practice, this approach allows me to gain insight into a client’s unique developmental experiences, trauma responses, and belief systems. I also draw from DBT skills training, narrative therapy, emotion-focused therapies, attachment-based therapy, EMDR, somatic experiencing, family systems, and Gottman Method.

I have had the privilege of working with youth and adults from various cultures and professional backgrounds. I support individuals with mental health concerns that include anxiety, depression, grief, relational distress, violence and aggression, childhood trauma, PTSD, and sexual trauma. I also help individuals overcome self-esteem issues, acculturative stress, addictions, and life transitions. By engaging in therapy, we address a range of topics such as unpacking trauma experiences, understanding the role of attachment and the neurobiology of trauma, recognizing and regulating emotions, navigating through relational discourse, recognizing the importance of self-care, and managing your overall health and wellness by cultivating self-compassion.

As a second- generation Canadian, I'm passionate about working with immigrants, refugees, and members of the BIPOC community. I recognize and respect the unique challenges they encounter in Canada and along life’s journey. I am fluent in Punjabi, Urdu, and Hindi, which allows me to help individuals overcome language barriers. Furthermore, I am deeply intrigued by each individual’s intersectionality that informs their unique cultural identity and spirituality. I derive a sense of meaning and fulfillment in engaging in conversations that explore the significance of past experiences and their impact on one’s growth and life trajectory. I believe this is a sphere that holds valuable potential for remediating our understanding of ourselves and our purpose in life.

Through my experiences, my journey has equipped me to connect and hold space for others to heal and grow. I provide a safe, warm, and cozy environment for our sessions where we can connect and chat about your concerns. The goal of our therapy sessions together will be to help you develop the mental fortitude needed to heal, achieve personal growth, and enhance your well-being. Moreover, we will work on developing self-compassion, which will allow you to move more easily through difficult times in the future, as wells as attain a sense of inner peace and empowerment to advocate for your well being. I believe the therapeutic alliance is a critical factor in achieving a positive therapeutic outcome, thus, I place an emphasis on the client-therapist fit. To initiate the therapy process, I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation. Please reach out to book an appointment. Asking for help is a sign of strength - by being here you have already taken the first step. Let me help you move forward in facing your challenges with confidence and hope in finding a sense of fulfillment.
