Personal Bio
Brief Introduction
I love spending time with my family and friends and enjoy being outdoors, playing sports, camping and white-water canoeing.
Professionally, I am passionate about helping individuals, couples and families to thrive; and helping leaders and organizations to excel.
Education
I am a graduate of the University of Western Ontario where I obtained an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology and Psychology and a Master of Education degree in Counselling. During my M.Ed. I completed a double major in personal and career counseling.
Experience
I have been providing formal counseling since 1996. I have provided counseling to individuals, couples and families, serving a diverse population and addressing a variety of issues and challenges. To see my areas of specialty, please see above the tab titled View Specialties. Throughout my career, I have also consulted with professional treatment providers and to case managers and insurance adjusters/adjudicators.
Alongside my private counseling practice, I have also worked in a variety of professional settings. From 2010 - 2017, I worked as a Clinical Manager, selecting, training and supervising counselors and providing consultations to: organizational leaders/managers; Human Resources and Occupational Health personnel; and to case managers, adjusters, and adjudicators for auto, STD and LTD claims. Since 2021, I have been working for a non-for-profit agency providing clinical supervision to staff, independent contractors, interns, and students in their Master's programs.
Approach
My counseling approach is flexible depending on the needs of the client. However, I typically use a client-centered, solution-focused and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach. When counseling, I consider the whole person: their mental, emotional, physical, social, spiritual and vocational condition.
Clientele Served
I provide counseling to individuals, couples and families. I am comfortable serving adults, youth and school-aged children (age 10+ years).
In addition, I provide leadership support (e.g., executive coaching, leadership/management consulting and leadership mentoring) to leaders of organizations in the business, social and church sectors.
I also provide clinical supervision through my private practice to those who are trying to obtain their clinical supervision hours for CRPO.
Accessibility
I provide counselling in person, by video, or over the phone. I am available early mornings, days and during evenings to accommodate people’s work schedules.
Professional Associations
I am a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP), number 2039-G.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist, registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (003296).
I also have professional liability insurance.
