Welcome!
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and nearly ten years of experience in the social services sector and training in private practice. I have worked in the community and the criminal justice system settings (including emergency shelters, court-mandated programming, and probation office), providing counselling and direct support to culturally-diverse people from all walks of life. Helping people find motivation to achieve meaningful changes in the context of a warm, trusting, and professional therapeutic relationship is my passion.
Therapeutic Approach
In my practice, I offer individual therapy to adults for a wide range of concerns:
- anxiety
- depression
- stress
- burn-out and obsessive thoughts
- low motivation
- feelings of vulnerability/low self-esteem
- trauma and PTSD
- relationship issues (conflict, co-dependency, communication, tension, boundaries, etc.),
- difficulties coping with life transitions
- intimate partner violence
- 2SLGBTQIA+ related issues
I respect the uniqueness of each client, understanding that what works for one may not work for another. For that reason, I practice from an integrative approach, drawing from various evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including:
- Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT)
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Solution-Based Brief Therapy (SFBT)
- Motivational Interviewing (MI)
- Mindfulness
- Client-Centered Therapy
I hold a Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional (CSTIP) Certification; Developmental Trauma & Resilience Program Certification by ECHO Ontario Mental Health Psychotherapy (Ontario Mental Health at CAMH and University of Toronto); Dialectical Behavior Therapy (C-DBT) Certification; and Certified Trauma Professional (CTP) Certification.
In collaboration with my clients, I explore what brings them to therapy, their needs and goals, strengths, as well as the areas where they may feel stuck. Treatment plans are created unique to each client, according to their pace and desired change. Aligning with and working from the strengths-based, intersectional feminist, and anti-oppressive practice values, I view my clients as experts in their own lives and help them access their strengths in the challenges they currently face. As a queer and immigrant woman, I am also committed to cultural humility – being open and respectful of the cultural beliefs and practices of all people. All of my work is trauma-informed. It is centered on building safety, empowerment, and skills-building to move clients toward improved functioning.
Located in the Annex neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, I am currently accepting new clients for in-person and online video counselling sessions. I believe it takes courage to reach out for support. It is also not easy to find the right therapist. So, book a FREE consultation call to discuss your needs and how my approach, education, experience, and who I am as a therapist can contribute to your journey toward a more fulfilling life.
