Young people who struggle to control problematic behaviors or the symptoms of a mental health condition or conditions often experience a great deal of difficulty when trying to succeed academically, follow rules at home, and avoid trouble when in the community.
 
For these reasons, Millcreek of Pontotoc was established to help youth between the ages of 6 and 20 learn how to control impulses, behavior, and mental distress in more effective ways. At this exemplary center, psychiatric residential treatment, therapeutic day treatment, and supportive group homes are available to these young people, and have positively impacted the lives of countless young people since Millcreek’s doors first opened.   Residential treatment at Millcreek of Pontotoc is a structured and highly supportive treatment option that features a myriad of time-tested interventions. Youth in this program also participate in educational services that can earn them credits towards advancing to the next grade level they are hoping to achieve. Additionally, each and every child and adolescent engaged in residential services at this center benefits from the staff’s ongoing encouragement and multiple opportunities to practice the skills that they have learned.
 
For young people who have experienced difficulty when trying to learn in a traditional academic setting, Millcreek of Pontotoc’s therapeutic day treatment may be a service that can help them achieve to their potential in school. This center’s accredited school features licensed teachers, customized school curriculums, and individual treatment plans that detail the therapeutic supports that will help youth be successful while in the classroom. Just like the educational services available in the residential program, the academic credits earned via Millcreek’s day treatment can also count as school credit at each youth’s respective school.
 
Finally, Millcreek of Pontotoc is pleased to offer supportive group homes in two separate locations in the state. While residing in a group home, a young person can partake in individual, group, family, and experiential therapies, while also having the ability to meet with a trained psychiatrist for medication management services when they are needed.
 
Furthermore, each youth receiving care in Millcreek’s group homes will have access to qualified staff who will meet on a monthly basis to ensure that each person is reaching his or her treatment goals. It is hoped that by residing in a group home setting, a young person can develop the necessary skills and confidence required to live a more independent and satisfying life with effectively managed mental health symptoms and positive behaviors.
