McCallum Place Eating Disorder Center View Specialties

McCallum Place is St. Louis, MO  region’s premier eating disorder treatment center. At McCallum Place, we understand how difficult overcoming an eating disorder can be and emphasize holistic recovery for all our patients. With multiple program options for adults age 18 and older and adolescents ages 12-17, McCallum Place has the facilities, experts, and resources to help you or a loved one recover from an eating disorder.

Coming to McCallum Place for treatment puts you or your loved one in capable hands. Our program emphasizes bringing together medical experts, specialized therapists, and compassionate staff to help people overcome the challenges of an eating disorder. Each of our patients will work directly with a dietitian to learn about their nutritional needs, therapists to help them rebuild a healthy relationship with food, and medical experts to attend to their physical health. Every one of our patients comes to us with different needs, circumstances, and experiences. As such, we’ve developed several different treatment programs to best serve those who need help.

Adults entering our care can start in our residential treatment center, partial hospitalization program, or intensive outpatient program. These programs offer three unique levels of care. After completing treatment, our adult continuing care program provides lasting support to help you sustain your recovery.

Adolescents similarly have several options for treatment. Our adolescent programs include a residential treatment center, partial hospitalization program, and intensive outpatient program. At McCallum Place, we understand that treating adolescents takes a vastly different approach — teenagers already face so much pressure and stress before adding the compounding factor of an eating disorder. Our compassionate and caring professionals can help your child break unhealthy eating patterns and build a foundation for a life in recovery.

Additionally, we have a unique program for athletes who are struggling with an eating disorder. This program takes both sport and mental health seriously and doesn’t make the mistake of treating athletic performance as part of the problem. In our Victory Program, each patient works with a team of dietitians, sports psychologists, medical professionals, and strength and conditioning coaches as part of a multidisciplinary team to help athletes recover.

Lastly, we understand that eating disorders don’t occur in a vacuum and shouldn’t be treated in one. We accept patients who have co-occurring disorders and work to treat those disorders as part of our holistic health model. These include behavioral health concerns such as depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, and self-harm. The simple fact is that mental health concerns often directly influence eating disorders, and the best chances of recovery include also treating mental and behavioral health disorders.

When you or a loved one comes to McCallum Place, you’re making a choice for a healthier and happier life. We have dedicated ourselves to helping people overcome eating disorders and achieve recovery. And recovery is possible: Our experience has shown that with evidence-based therapies, empathetic support, and individualized treatment, anyone can recover.
