I have been offering youth therapy and family counselling services in B.C. for 28 years. I worked for a time on the mainland but returned home to the Island with my husband to raise our son. I am honoured that you are interested in my services and I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I have been described as slightly non-conventional in the counselling world, which suits me perfectly, and also tends to suit youth and young adults who are trying to stand up to the force of the problems in their life. I am very comfortable working with this population, and I feel fortunate that I can connect with youth and young adults the way I do, conventionally or in a way that makes sense to them. I believe that people hold many stories about themselves, but when they seek me out, it is usually because they are focused on stories about their problems. I am interested in creating a space where positive personal stories can be remembered and created, and this is accomplished in large part through the use of humour and relationship building. I really enjoy partnering with people while they work towards positive changes in their life, and I always do so in a curious, empathic and non-judgemental way.

I am professionally trained in various therapeutic orientations, but I primarily use a Narrative Therapy approach in my practice. I sometimes also use art, drama, and music therapies, as I encourage clients to be creative in our sessions together. Although I specialize in working with youth, I offer services to adults as well.

I have a Diploma in Early Childhood Education, a B.A. in Child and Youth Care, a Masters in Counselling Psychology, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
