Meet Dr. Kari Londergan
Welcome. I’m Dr. Kari Londergan, and at the heart of my work is a deep commitment to walking alongside individuals, couples, adolescents, and families as they navigate the complexities of emotional pain, relationships, and life’s unexpected turns. I’m here to hold space for your story with care, curiosity, and compassion—offering support that is both grounded and deeply human.
About My Approach
I specialize in creating a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you can safely explore the difficult emotions that often arise from love, loss, trauma, and conflict. I believe that true healing begins by gently turning toward our pain—held within a secure, empathetic relationship. Through this kind of connection, past wounds can be transformed into new purpose, clarity, and strength. My work is relational, integrative, and always rooted in compassion and attunement.
My Experience
I hold both a Master’s and PhD from Adler University and serve as an AAMFT-approved supervisor and individual supervisor at Northwestern University. My background includes extensive work with trauma, relational challenges, grief, and emotional dysregulation. I bring a trauma-informed perspective to every session, combining professional rigor with deep emotional presence.
I draw from a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities tailored to your unique needs, including:
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
- Internal Family Systems (IFS)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Somatic Experiencing
- Systems Theory
- Attachment Theory
My Passion
My greatest passion is helping people feel seen, heard, and empowered to heal. I am especially drawn to helping clients reconnect with themselves after seasons of disconnection, hurt, or emotional overwhelm. I believe therapy can be a sacred space where your most vulnerable parts are welcomed—not rushed or fixed, but honored—and slowly integrated into a fuller, freer way of living.
A Typical Session With Kari
A session with me is gentle, grounded, and collaborative. You can expect a calm, supportive environment where we tune into your emotions, thoughts, and bodily experiences at your pace. Some sessions may involve insight and reflection, while others may include somatic awareness or trauma-informed processing. Always, we move with care and respect for where you are in your journey.

Testimonials
"My husband and I were stuck in the same painful cycle, constantly misreading each other’s intentions. Kari helped us understand the roots of that cycle through the lens of attachment theory, showing us how our fears and needs were driving disconnection. With her support, we learned tools to communicate with more clarity and empathy. We now feel more secure, connected, and able to meet each other with understanding instead of defensiveness."
"After my divorce, I felt voiceless—unsure of who I was or how to speak my truth. Working with Dr. Kari was like being gently guided back to myself. Her calm, compassionate presence created a space where I felt truly safe to be honest and vulnerable.Through our work, I began to trust my voice again, set healthy boundaries, and embrace my needs without shame. Kari helped me move from survival to self-worth—and for that, I’m deeply grateful!"
"Kari has helped me to finally understand my ADHD. She has shared so many great resources and is a wealth of knowledge. She is passionate about her work and her relationships with clients. She puts her heart and soul into her sessions. I’ve worked with many therapists before, but Kari has cultivated the depth that I needed to finally make lasting change. I am grateful for her and our work together."
"I worked with Kari in EMDR to process unresolved childhood trauma that was very activated in the present with my fiancé and various family members. She helped to guide me at a pace that was comfortable. I felt safe with her to go into my experiences because of our relationship, her warm energy and her knowledge of the process. It has been life changing to say the least. I am no longer feeling the intense triggers and can regulate my emotions so much better. I feel calm and less weighed down. Releasing that block has allowed new energy into my life that finally feels really good. I highly recommend Kari, as she has made such an impact on my life."
"Kari has helped me to define healthier boundaries within my relationships. I went from a people pleaser and avoidant in sharing my emotions to someone who feels much more confident in standing firm in who I am, knowing that my feelings are valid. It has been a game changer in my life."
