I can help you if you are struggling with:
- Anxiety/ Depression
- Trauma/ PTSD
- Relationships and couple issues
- Sleep problems
- Grief and Loss
- Addictions
Are you living the life you want?
Are you feeling sad, angry, anxious, or scared?
Are you stuck, sleepless, or just tired of it all?
When emotional, mental, or physical symptoms are holding you back, there is hope.
The joy, peace, intimacy, and graceful relationships that you really want in your life is already within your reach simply by taking this first step of seeking counselling. I use a combination of cognitive talk therapy and a body-oriented approach, which in my experience is more effective and efficient than talking therapy alone. This approach will help you access your own (often hidden) resources to promote healing and transformation in your journey towards wholeness, authenticity, and genuine positive relationships.
I like to walk collaboratively with my clients on their journey of discovery and change, empowering you to transform your life challenges into opportunities. My aim is to be sensitive to your needs and goals, going at your pace, and providing efficient and effective brief or long term confidential and professional therapy.
I work with people of all ages, including children, youth, adults, and seniors. Key areas of my private practice include anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, relationship issues, marriage and couple issues, sleep disturbance, grief & loss, addictions and aftercare, personality disorders, life transitions, stress & burn-out, eldercare, and women's issues.
I have extensive post-graduate training primarily in the areas of anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions, couples, and personality and character development. Although my list of post graduate trainings and conferences is too long to mention here, the primary ones include Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Bodynamics, the Bader-Pearson Model for Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focussed Therapy for Couples, and Critical Incident Stress Management. I adapt my approach to meet the needs of individual clients or couples.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Registered Social Worker, and a Dance/Movement Therapist with more than 25 years experience in the field of mental health. With an office in Yaletown I am easy to reach. I am also registered with the Crime Victims Assistance Program.
Previously I have 12 years experience in out-patient, in-patient, and crisis team services in a psychiatric hospital, an addictions hospital, and community service settings. I also have facilitated workshops and retreats and made professional presentations at conferences and a variety of other settings.
While relationships are often at the core of life challenges, they are also an important agent of change. Thus a caring, non-judgmental and compassionate therapeutic relationship is an essential component of my counselling style.
