Welcome, I'm so happy you're here!

I have thoroughly enjoyed my career as a helping professional for over twenty years.  I hold two Masters degrees in Counselling Psychology. I am a qualifying registrant of the College of Psychotherapy of Ontario and a Professional member of both the Ontario Society of Psychotherapists and The Canadian Psychotherapy and Counselling Association because I highly value professionalism, currency and excellence in mental health care.

My experience as a therapist includes community based counselling in the Halton, Brant and Wellington Regions where I welcomed the opportunity to work with a wonderful variety of people.  Some of the types of presenting issues I have had the privilege of helping others work through include anxiety, depression, domestic violence, family conflict, trauma, eating disorders, relationship issues, suicidal ideation, self esteem issues and grief.  I am passionate about my work and I embrace the opportunity to create a safe space where each client can realize their resilience and personal power in even the most challenging circumstances.

Here are some very important points about engaging in therapy...

  • Therapy is safe and effective
  • Change is possible and it's never too late
  • The process is collaborative and designed to empower clients to improve their situation
  • Sometimes therapy helps you to reveal why you feel the way you do
  • Helping relationships are built on trust, empathy and unconditional positive regard
  • Therapy can be short term (1-3 sessions) or long term, depending on each clients preference and goals

My therapeutic approach has been described as warm and inclusive. I have found it so important to create customized therapeutic experiences and remain sensitive to each client's unique needs.  My training has provided many wonderful opportunities to facilitate CBT, emotion focused therapy, narrative therapy, psychodynamic therapy and client centered approaches. I utilize this wide knowledge base to create personalized treatment plans that match my clients individual preferences.

It was a great honor to be awarded Vision Therapy Canada's, Vision Therapist of the Year in 2019 for my extensive work with emotional distress resulting from brain injury in the field of Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation. This experience has provided a helpful perspective on medical trauma and health anxiety, reinforcing the power each person has to heal and recover. I have also had the pleasure of successfully facilitating international lectures on the topic of the power of a professional therapeutic relationship in both Australia and the Philippines.

I welcome your inquires and look forward to being of service to you:)
