Is life changing? Are you experiencing anxiety or depression or other struggles? Life changes can be ones you welcome (marriage, move, new job, family, retirement) or changes that present unwelcome challenges (divorce, death, impacts of trauma, parenting challenges, empty nest).  No matter the situation, it can create emotional upheaval. I can help. Clients who seek my help are from all walks of life who are looking for someone who is warm, empathetic and listens without judgement. No matter your life stage or circumstance, I understand life is complex and the right support can make the difference.

I help people facing these issues as it relates to:
  • Life transitions,
  • Anxiety & Depression,
  • Trauma,
  • Relationship Issues and/or
  • Parenting Concerns.

Clients who seek my help are from all walks of life who are looking for someone who is warm, empathetic and listens without judgement, including:
  • adolescents to older adults
  • students to working professionals to retirees
  • single, married, divorced, with kids or without.

No matter your life stage or circumstance, I understand the complexities of life that you are confronting, balancing competing life experiences and challenges.

How I Can Help You:

Working together, we will explore the difficulties you are facing in a supportive, non-judgmental way.  Once we understand these issues, including what may be underlying them, we will build a set of skills, tools, and strategies for you to use. The goal is for you to heal, finding overall relief as well as ways to manage your day to day. I work
to ensure that our time together is a safe place for you to explore, heal, and grow in a way that is best for you. The right fit is essential for counseling success.  To facilitate this connection, each person is treated with empathy, compassion, understanding in a non-judgmental manner.

Therapeutic Approach & Additional Specialties:

I believe that you are an individual, and as such, your therapy will be tailored to your needs to ensure the process connects with you. Whether you are struggling with life transitions, anxiety or depression, trauma, relationship or family concerns, parenting, career challenges, self-esteem and confidence, and managing your emotions working together, we will identify the right therapeutic approach to bring you relief and healing.

To ensure we address the way mental health concerns are showing up in your life, the therapeutic process will be tailored to your needs in a way that will connect with you. I believe that people are storytellers. Stories are the way people make sense of their lives and the world around them. We are either held back or set free by the stories we tell ourselves. In our work, we will explore your story as a means of understanding. That said, I also know that not one approach resonates with each person. As a result, I incorporate techniques from other theories and therapies that best align with your needs and goals.

Approaches I often use include:
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT),
  • Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Mindfulness
  • Existential Therapy

The goal is to provide a nurturing environment that promotes self-acceptance and personal growth in a way that is meaningful to you.

Experience

In terms of experience, I have worked with a wide variety of people and mental health concerns, from the in-patient psychiatric hospital setting of Austin State Hospital to those of individuals in an out-patient setting.  Prior to becoming a mental health counselor, I worked in the corporate world and as an attorney. The broad experience gained in my first career informs my approach to counseling. This includes broad experience working with a wide range of people from many nationalities, cultures, ethnicities, religions, and life experience.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate, supervised by Reem Glasco, LPC-S who received a Masters in Counseling degree from St. Edwards University.
