I am a
psychotherapist in private practice, with offices in Montclair as well as
Manhattan.
As a Licensed
Clinical Social Worker, I have awareness and respect for how a
person's environment, culture and family experience will affect their life
experience. My advanced training in psychoanalysis provides me
with specific tools to help you make changes that will be deep and lasting. I
believe that understanding your internal world empowers you to shape your
current life with more freedom and confidence.
I can assist you in overcoming issues with:
- Anxiety or Stress
- Depression
- Creative blocks
- Relationship conflicts
- Trauma and loss
I have a special interest in creativity, the creative process, and living life in an authentic manner. I've worked with artists and those for whom creativity is important to help resolve blocks in their process. The creative process can be meaningful and enlivening when all is well, but, like other areas of life, obstacles can interrupt the flow. Returning to your optimal level of functioning may require some work, but can be rewarding. As an objective listener I can point you in the right direction.
I have extensive
experience working with people facing health issues, dealing with the medical
system, and making decisions about medical care. I've worked
with survivors of the World Trade Center attack, along with grieving and
traumatized family members of the 9/11 victims. Unprocessed grief can impact your life, like the loss of a family member, or from more personal losses, like losing a treasured pet, or a job. Moving forward in life requires that we come to terms with the feelings surrounding loss, whatever they may be.
I received my initial clinical training from Fordham University School of Social Work, as well as extensive post masters training at the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center. I welcome persons of all backgrounds, cultures, faiths and sexual orientations.
