I believe you are reading this now because you are at an important turning point in your life, your marriage, and your relationship.
How many times have you thought about making a change, getting some help, finding someone who will listen without judgment?  Have you been frustrated in the past with therapy that is long on talk and short on practical tools that you can apply to really resolving your challenges?  You will not find this in our work together.  It will be action oriented and include homework to reinforce the work we do in
The decision to seek counseling, therapy, or life coaching as an individual, couple or family can absolutely change your life. It is my honor to have the opportunity to listen as you share the experience of your life and we will work together to determine what is working well and you should continue, what may need to be examined and adjusted, and what may need to be discarded.
I enjoy working with adults and adolescents individually, as part of a couple, family, or group.  My work is centered in 3 area:  Couple’s and Family Therapy, Life Coaching and Individual Therapy.  In my work with Couples and Families I focus on repairing connection, improving communication, and reigniting passion.  As a Life Coach I partner with my clients to transform their lives through values clarification, identifying self-limiting beliefs, goal structuring, and accountability.  My work with individuals is best described as real and active.  I am not the “blank slate therapist” who does not react or respond but only reflects back to you what you are saying.  I will provide input based on my experience and I often offer homework in the form of handouts and suggested books.  Participating in homework is not a prerequisite in working with me, but I find that clients who do so make greater progress.
Couples and Familiesseek counseling for wide range of reasons, but here is a list of warning signs that your relationship
Feeling distant from your partner
Increase in arguments, arguments over the same issues, or one or both partners have mentioned "divorce"
Lack of affection or no physical intimacy
Lack of interest
Avoiding spending time with each other
Poor communication, "he/she doesn't listen"
Inadequate support
Infidelity-both Physical and Emotional
Not spending time together
My Couple’s Therapyhelps to build the skills that will keep you in connection for a lifetime. I have a structured method of working with couples that involves Myers-Briggs personality assessments, communication exercises, and looking more deeply at the "dialogues" that occur between partners and how these are related to issues of disconnection in the basic emotional attachment that is essential for safety in a love relationship. One example of this would be looking closely at what is really happening when one of you pushes and prods and the other shuts down and gives up -- we will find a solution that you can carry with you and apply through your lifetime together-facing life's challenges shoulder to shoulder as a team.  If have had couple’s therapy in the past where the counselor allowed fighting during the session and did not teach you how to communicate effectively about difficult and heated emotional issues this will be very different.
I also enjoy working with parents and teenagers to negotiate their relationship during these often challenging years.  My experience in this area is both professional and personal.

Life Coachingis another branch of my practice. I work with individuals who consider themselves emotionally healthy but may feel they are not achieving their full potential. We work together to identify passion, purpose, and to uncover self-limiting beliefs that may be preventing the achievement of the exceptional levels they are capable of. Another important aspect of life coaching is having a "thought partner", someone to help you say aloud and make concrete those ideas and dreams that go around in your head but never seem to become a reality. Finally, accountability-a life coach is someone to hold you accountable to the goals YOU set and help you stay on track.

I have over 75 hours of postgraduate training from the College of Executive Coachingthe leader in training Personal and Executive coaches with Graduate degrees. Beware when talking to coaches, many have no advance education because at this time, there is no certification required to call yourself a "coach".
Individual Therapy with me may feel different than therapy you have experienced in other places.  My person is very much a part of my therapy.  I bring my greater than 50 years, 27 good years of marriage, the shock of a sudden end to that marriage, being a single personal at 50+, a personal family history of depression that spans the living generations, raising 2 sons who are now college graduates, the death of both of my siblings, the hands on care of 2 close family members in the last months of their home hospice care, a multi year struggle to find my true calling, and a belief that we are all here for a reason and that we have a gift to share which in some small way can make this a better world.  What I know is that my experience and my life is not the same as yours so I do not suggest clients follow my paths.  I believe that my training and my life experience come together to make me someone who can empathically attune to your experience and be with you as you share and in doing so help you work out the solution that works best for you.  Some of the tools I use in my therapy include suggested books, videos, and handouts.  These are not required I find that clients who use the tools make more rapid progress.  I feel very blessed to have found this career and I would be honored to listen as you share your journey.
My goal as your Mental Health Counselor; Couple’s, Marriage or Family Therapist; or Life Coach is for you to learn to “self-manage” so that ultimately your need for my service no longer exists and you are left with a toolkit of resources. My clients are challenged with homework and reading assignments tailored to their particular issues.
The First step can be the most difficult. I am committed to offering a bridge to begin your journey through a Free Phone Consultation. Email me today so we can begin our work together.
