Life has difficulties and challenges. Pain and suffering are an inevitable part of human existence. We can not run from it. We cannot hide from it. But we can learn to live with it, to rise above it, to transform it, and to find meaning in it. Wellness and human flourishing can exist in the presence of pain and suffering. Working from a meaning perspective, I believe that when people see their own unique value they are better equipped to overcome life’s challenges and start living life more fully.

I grew up in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. After earning Master of Theological Studies from Tyndale Seminary in 2004, I have worked as a counsellor and clinical supervisor in various settings across the country. With extensive experience working with mental health and addictions, I am passionate about helping people be the best versions of themselves.

Several years ago I was introduced to Meaning-centered counselling, which focuses on addressing the human need for meaning and purpose. I quickly connected with this approach because it finally provided a “why” instead of just a "what". Through other therapeutic approaches I felt like I knew “what” to do to support clients through life’s challenges but often felt like I was helping them to better survive life rather than truly thrive. A Meaning-centred approach is different because it focusses therapy on deeper transformation that allows clients to transition from resolving problems to creating a life that is meaningful and purposeful, while rising above their limitations. Clients gain a greater sense of the life they are moving toward rather than the life they want to leave behind. Healing the past often occurs through the process of growth.

Meaning Centred Therapy is an integrative approach to therapy that draws from many approaches with personal meaning as the central organizing construct, helping clients shift from the problem of pain, to the joy of living. I frequently use a variety of approaches including CBT, DBT, Narrative, Existential, and Somatic. Having also trained as a Certified Professional Coach, I use a blended approach of coaching and counselling to help my clients flourish.
