Volunteer Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for individuals who are struggling with opioid addiction in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Our premier outpatient treatment center serves adults age 18 and older.

Individuals who wish to overcome opioid use disorder face unique challenges. The regular use of opioids like heroin, fentanyl, and prescription pain medications can quickly result in severe physical dependence. This makes stopping use extremely difficult without medical assistance. Treatment at Volunteer CTC begins with a detailed evaluation by our compassionate treatment team. Clients who take part in MAT at our outpatient addiction treatment center receive a prescription for a medication. Our intake evaluation considers factors like substance use history, frequency and duration of opioid use, medical and mental health history, and other factors. With this information, we create an individualized treatment plan that is designed to serve a client’s unique needs.

Clients at Volunteer CTC receive a prescription for methadone, Suboxone, or buprenorphine. All medications used in MAT are FDA-approved. Our goal is to minimize the discomfort that normally accompanies opioid withdrawal. Our physicians carefully monitor client progress, and client input is respected and valued. By offering multiple medication options, we are able to adjust both the dosage and medication used to provide a client with the most effective form of support.

Medication-assisted treatment is a clinically proven approach to treating opioid addiction. The medications used in MAT work on the physical level to minimize withdrawal effects like pain, nausea, vomiting, cramps, and diarrhea. MAT also provides clients with significant relief from the severe opioid cravings that occur during and after detox. Opioid cravings can be both physical and psychological, and they are one of the leading causes of relapse. Some clients need MAT medications only during the detox process, while others require a prescription for a longer period of time.

While MAT medications work to provide physical and psychological relief, our individual counseling sessions help clients build a foundation for lasting recovery. Mental and emotional health, unresolved trauma, co-occurring mental health conditions, coping skills, and social factors are all addressed in one-on-one counseling sessions to help maximize client success.

At Volunteer CTC, we know that clients who are seeking opioid addiction treatment often require specialized therapies to achieve long-term recovery. We understand the complexities of opioid addiction, and our staff members strive to create a warm and encouraging environment for clients who are taking the important first steps toward healing.
