Located in Magee, Mississippi, Millcreek of Magee is a premier provider of behavioral health treatment for young people ages 6-21 who are struggling with mental health concerns and co-occurring addictions. We also treat those who have been diagnosed with an intellectual disability. Common concerns we address include attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), major depressive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder, intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and autism spectrum disorder. At Millcreek of Magee, our mission is to provide clinically excellent services in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. We believe that it is important to help children, adolescents, and young adults get the treatment they deserve so that they can live healthy, productive lives. Every member of our team is committed to instilling family and community values in each person who is in our care by serving them and their loved ones with the utmost compassion. Our programs are designed to help people function better in school, at home, and within their family and peer relationships. We offer residential programming in three different environments: a psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF), an intermediate care facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ICF/IID), and a therapeutic group home that is designed specifically for adolescent males and young adults. Millcreek of Magee also offers school-based day treatment services to help children and adolescents learn in a manner that takes into account the unique challenges they face. When a person seeks care with us, our interdisciplinary team will conduct a thorough assessment to determine which level of care is right for them. Everyone who comes to our treatment center receives individualized care that is tailored to their specific strengths and needs. Each person’s treatment plan may contain elements such as medical care; medication management services; individual, family, group, and experiential therapies; and academic sessions. We also use evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and principles of applied behavioral analysis and the Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH). The admissions process for each of our programs differs. This process for our PRTF program begins once we receive the patient’s psychiatric evaluation, intelligence testing, and letter of recommendation for residential treatment from a healthcare provider. To enroll in our ICF/IID program, we conduct an assessment over the phone with the resident’s parent or legal guardian and ask for the appropriate school records. Our admissions process for the school-based day treatment services offered at Millcreek of Magee begins as soon as we receive the person’s referral paperwork, psychiatric evaluation, and special education documentation. As for the therapeutic group home program, the admissions process starts when the Mississippi Department of Human Services sends us the adolescent male’s or young person’s residential application. After a patient or resident has been approved for admission with us, we walk their caretakers or family members through the rest of the admissions process. If we believe that another facility would be better suited to meet their needs, we will refer them to a different treatment center that we trust.
