You feel like things are generally going ok on a day-to-day basis, and yet there's this underlying feeling of sadness. You're starting to realize that you've never really "fit in" anywhere, but don't know why. All the people around you seem to be making friends, having connections, but you feel like an extra in a movie. And you're starting to seriously consider that there may be something wrong with you.

If this sounds familiar, know that you're not alone! My clients come in with similar feelings, and more. Some of them have the general sense of "I'm different," while others have started noticing they relate a lot content and memes about autistic and ADHD adults. No matter where you fit in all this, I'm here to help.

I help my clients make sense of who they are. Through counseling, we explore those questions like "am I autistic?" "what is my sexuality anyway?" "is this anxiety or OCD?" or "could I have adult ADHD?" and more. Therapy is a safe space to really dig in to these questions, and then figure out what to do with it. I don't tell you that others people have it worse, or you should be grateful, or any of that. Together, we can acknowledge the sadness and worry while also actively working on ways for you to feel better.

Therapy with me is truly based on what your needs and preferences are. Of course, my number one priority is that you feel affirmed and not judged. We work together based on your strengths and needs to find systems that help you feel successful. Need a place to just be able to talk things through with another human, who you know won't judge you? Well, you've found it!

If you're interested, I offer a few other different techniques.
  • Brainspotting is a technique that can help address past traumas (even those things we don't think of as traumas) without having to have the words to put on things.
  • Mindfulness can help you feel centered and calm, even with things that can't be changed. And to all my ADHDers out there, yes, there's ways we can use mindfulness that aren't boring.
  • Movement-based techniques, such as yoga can help increase feelings of calm and relaxation.
A few more Frequently Asked Questions that folks have when they start working with me:
  • What is the cost? I charge $160 for a session up to an hour, and offer extended sessions of 90 minutes for $240.
  • What if I want longer sessions? I offer therapy intensives for those seeking deeper, more focused sessions. Intensives can be helpful for those who have another therapist that they want to continue to work with weekly, but have a trauma or something specific they want to do a deep-dive with. If you're interested in an intensive, contact me for more information.
  • Where do you offer therapy? I am completely virtual, and can work with anyone who is currently located in North or South Carolina. That means you don't have to worry about traveling to and from an office. You can get therapy from the comfort of your own home.
  • Do I have to have a diagnosis? If you are paying completely out of pocket and do not intend to seek reimbursement from your insurance company, then no. However, if you plan to use out-of-network benefits, you have to have a diagnosis in order for your insurance company to pay you. I'm happy to talk about options for diagnosis with you.

Taking the first step in finding a therapist can be scary, so I offer a free 20 minute consultation to answer any questions and see if we would be a good fit. Contact me today so we can get set up and you can start working towards healing.
