A lifelong lover of being outside, Seattle felt like a great fit when
I arrived in 2005 to begin my graduate work at The Seattle School of
Theology and Psychology. Since I spent all my early years growing up in
Virginia, it did take me some time to get used the ocean being on what
often feels like the "wrong"side:) I began practicing as a therapist in
2009.
Since graduating college, social services and
volunteering have been passions of mine. Some of the main positions I've
held were as Asia program director and caseworker for a
local adoption agency in northern Virginia where I worked with crisis
management, accreditation and family intervention. My work included
adoption advocacy with a local group working as an informational
adoption resource for Congress. I also spent many hours volunteering
with Young Life, reaching out to local teens. Finally, out here in
Seattle, I completed an internship with Sound Mental Health, counseling children, teens and families.
My undergraduate work occurred in Virginia at Mary Baldwin College. I
received my BA in Biochemistry and minor in Leadership Studies. While
in college, I also participated in the Virginia Women’s Institute of
Leadership (VWIL), a program designed to build the self-esteem of young
women and create a well-rounded female leader of the future. I credit my
experiences in this program as some of the most valuable of my life and
those, which stirred my interest and passion for the often multi
faceted issues women face every day.
I am
married with two, wild, beautiful, curious and active kiddos and a busy
schedule. I live with my family on the eastside where we get outside
whenever we can. I also love to bake, a good book and a rainy day.
