How I may be able to help . . .

I am a Registered Psychologist in the province of Alberta. I have over 14 years of experience working with individuals managing symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and grief. In addition to this, I have a background in working with individuals that have HIV and AIDS as well as cancer and chronic pain. I also have extensive experience in working with victims of crime and tragedy.

The techniques I utilize . . .

I draw from several therapy modalities including person centered therapy, solution focused therapy, and cognitive behavioural therapy. I meet each individual where they are at and go from there. In doing so we will work together to create a personalized therapy plan that is tailored just for you. In using solution therapy we learn to focus on the positive things in our lives as opposed to the negative. Cognitive therapy is very helpful for issues such as depression and anxiety when someone may need assistance in changing their thought patters. This can lead to a shift in a person's overall mood. If appropriate, I may assign homework tasks for you to complete between sessions.

A personal connection . . .

I turned to the help of a therapist when I was navigating a family member's cancer diagnosis. They helped me to work through my feelings and emotions during a very difficult time in my life. I also learned the importance of having someone to walk beside us during dark and challenging times.

A note about fees . . .

A therapy appointment is $220 per hour. I do offer direct billing to Alberta Blue Cross and FNIHB. If direct billing is not available to your insurance company, I will provide a receipt that you can either submit on your own or add to your income taxes.
