ABOUT ME

My career began over 25 years ago as an opportunity to fulfill my passion for helping others experience freedom from the emotional pain they experience. My first job was providing guidance in an academic setting. From there, I moved on to work in community mental health with children where I learned a lot about working with clients in a holistic manner. Following that, I began journey in private practice where I assumed ownership, supervised and managed the practice growing it to multiple locations and providers and maintained my own caseload. Recently, I have stepped out of leadership to return to my passion of full time, direct care.

MY APPROACH

Along with traditional approaches like Cognitive Behavioral and Narrative therapies, I have a certification in Nutrition and Mental Health and specialized training in interventions such as EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, Gottman strategies and Play Therapy. I utilize a holistic, eclectic approach that is consistent with Biblical principles.

HOW I CAN HELP

My goal is to help you understand how your past experiences may be affecting the way you are perceiving and reacting to your present circumstances. We will develop personalized strategies to help you find freedom from the emotional pain in a way that incorporates your faith if you desire to have that aspect included.
Depending on your particular concern, I can use a variety of treatments to assist you in your healing journey. Here is a list of common types of interventions I use:

Cognitive Behavioral -Helps you identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behavior
Narrative therapies- Helps you identify the stories you created and carry with you throughout your life and reclaim your narrative.
Nutrition and Mental Health- Helps educate about the mind-body connection and identify strategies to find balance to move toward greater health.
EMDR- Helps you to desensitize the impact of traumatic memories
Somatic Experiencing- Helps you identify and release stored emotion in your body.
Internal Family Systems- Helps to connect with your inner world and find your true self.
Gottman strategies -Helps you communicate and relate effectively with the important people in your life
Play Therapy -Helps provide a language for children to express themselves
Christian/Biblical Counseling-Helps you incorporate scripture and Biblical concepts into practical life strategies
