My Christian perspective gives me a helpful frame for grappling with and understanding this tension: It gives me great compassion for how challenging it can be (due to our brokenness) to grow and change, and it also gives me great hope for each person's innate ability to change (because of God's protecting within us the capacity for healing). I believe faith in God is a powerful and essential part of overcoming suffering and adversity in our lives. Therefore, I integrate faith based techniques to the counseling relationship and process for my clients who are believers. I have found over my years of clinical practice that spiritual faith based healing strategies are definitely the most powerful. Also, faith based strategies are very helpful in creating a happy, healthy, and successful life, so I include those in executive, business, and personal coaching as well.

Like most counselors, I recognize personal problems can come about because of physiology, social-environmental influences, and psychological pressures. As a Christian counselor, I am not limited to psychological techniques or to my own human efforts and wisdom. I believe God is the real authority in counseling and He gives us the resources to change. I believe that counseling without Our Creator is operating in vanity and ineffective. My counseling goal is to advocate forgiveness from the past, strength and comfort for the present, and hope for the future. I am sensitive to the many dilemmas we face, and I am trained to identify and assist in navigating through the process of healing.

As a Christian, I can work with you on your life issues through the lens of your relationship to God and Christ. I truly feel that my personal spiritual beliefs in no way hinder me from working with any client; on the contrary, I know that my spirituality is a key component of who I am as a person and thus as a therapist. In addition to a Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis & Resolution, I hold a Masters of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. I have served as a pastor for 10 years. Later, I went on to develop the "Reconciliation Model of Peacemaking" for my doctoral dissertation. Each stage of the model, which correlates to modern peacemaking practice, finds its roots in Biblical theology. I integrate best practices and a Biblical perspective to help couples reduce conflict, rebuild their emotional bond, and experience peace.

For those who wish to address spiritual issues and personal faith in their healing process, I provide a non-judgmental environment to allow God to work in your life. I have a background in ministry and a strong personal Christian faith as well as Biblical training. Looking at life from God's perspective provides a basis for growth and change. Building your trust during difficult times and sharing your spiritual journey in therapy can open a wider path of healing and change.

Since I have a Masters, Doctorate, and A Doctor of Divinity in the Theology field and then a Ph.D I use these insights to your advantage. Also I rely heavily on prayer and praying with you at each session. I have developed these fields so I can understand what and how you believe and how it is effecting you and others. A very large part of one's life is spiritual. We may choose to hide from this fact, but the truth is the truth. I do not see my role as changing your values, but may suggest in an area of some other ways to consider. After all, how and what we think is the way we act out our lives. I have worked with most all different religions and understand theire process.

Our emotional and spiritual lives are closely connected and by focusing on both a deeper and fuller healing is possible. Our God is a relational God who is near to the brokenhearted and full of compassion. I seek to integrate His love and compassionate connection along with my own into my psychotherapy.

Faith is such a huge part of a person and often times people feel like they are asked to divorce their spiritual health from their mental health. From my perspective this is not possible. While I am not here to replace your form of spiritual guidance, I am here to help you integrate your faith into who you are as a person. Whether it is addressing trauma's experienced as a result of people from our faith, or finding ways to more fully embrace our faith for healing, I am here to help you see how fulfilling faith can be when we allow all parts of ourselves to interact with it.

Several of our counselors are Christian. Our job is not to talk about our faith, but to help you figure out the role it plays in your life. We can incorporate spirituality as much or as little as you like in your sessions. Finding purpose and meaning helps many manage their mental health. When we struggle emotionally, people often lose their faith. believing in something bigger than yourself can be hopeful.
