We want connection- a space to be vulnerable and truly seen. But emotional intimacy is risky, and that scares us, especially with a difficult history! Instead of being vulnerable, we build up walls to protect us. Let's break down the walls and build a loving connection.

The library system in the town offers many programs for adults and children alike. The Literacy for Life program always needs volunteers. After attending orientation, adults decide if they are interested in completing the training to become a tutor. Tutors then work with other adults who need to learn how to speak and read English. The need for volunteers is steady as many times a waiting list exists for people wishing to enroll in the program. Another adult program offering is the Library Links with Seniors. Volunteers visit area care homes and present programs that are between 30 and 60 minutes long. The subject is based on library materials. One month might feature poetry while the next month is short stories. Volunteers are also encouraged to meet each month to share ideas and exchange useful information regarding the program. Both daytime and evening book clubs complete the adult selections.1
