Grief is a highly individual process, as unique as the people experiencing it. Everything from our personal histories and culture to personality traits and temperament affects how we experience and cope with a major loss in our life. That said, based on my own work as a counselor, it seems to me there are some common themes in the stories of people who manage to grieve well. We can help you heal through Gods' Word to help you think about and navigate your own grieving process in a compassionate, constructive, and healthy way.

The pain of grief always passes with expression, not avoidance. Counseling grants you permission to grieve. Grieving in the presence of another person is more restorative that grieving alone, but often times friends or family may unknowingly inhibit your grief. Counseling removes all expectations and pressures, allowing your grief to come on its own. Grief counseling makes room for emotions you may not expect, know how to explain, or may feel guilty about. Your expression of grief will ease your pain and make life seem livable again.

Grief and loss is experienced differently by everyone. In counseling we are here to help you better understand where you are in the process of coping with your loss, accept how you think and feel about the loss, and aid you to gently move through the process at a pace that is healthy for you.
