There are three consistent methods to improve depression, whether it is situational or chronic. They include exercise, medicine and counseling- AND- they are synergistic. This means if you do more than one of them, you get more and more benefit. Do all three and it is 1+1+1=5 with the impact on your depression. Try and exercise 3 times a week, consider medication if needed, and start with the talk therapy. You can feel better!
