Edith's approach to depression counseling is to 1) recognize, accept, and cope with feelings of depression, 2) help the client alleviate depressive symptoms and return to previous level of effective functioning, develop healthy thinking patterns and beliefs about self and others, and 3) develop healthy interpersonal relationships that lead to the alleviation and help prevent the relapse of depression.

Depression can be sadness but also can be lack of motivation or energy to do life leading to low self esteem. We can work together to strategize ways to improve motivation and energy. We will examine you thoughts and beliefs as related to your depression to see if they are contributing to your lack of motivation and poor self esteem. As your energy and motivation improve, self esteem may also improve. Finding the energy to engage life can decrease depression symptoms.

Depression counseling first starts with me providing a safe and supportive space for individuals to express their feelings and experiences without judgment. Clients will learn effective strategies and develop practical skills to manage their depressive symptoms. I utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), which help individuals identify and challenge negative thought patterns and beliefs. By replacing these negative thought patterns and beliefs with more realistic and positive thoughts and beliefs, clients can experience a significant reduction in depressive symptoms and improve their overall well-being. I utilize other techniques, such as mindfulness, (EFT), and relaxation exercises.

Sometimes life really does feel like more than we can bare. Endless nights of sorrow can be our constant companion, and tears may seem like they will never run dry.
