Our therapists have been trained psychologically and theologically in order to work within the biblical Christian worldview that is shared by over 80% of Texans. While we are distinctively Christian in our approach, we do not push any particular religious agenda, but work within the client's Christian belief system to help answer life's difficult questions such as: "Who am I?", "What's my purpose?", "Why does God let bad things happen?", "Is there any hope?", and "What meaning is there to my life?". We come alongside our clients and walk them through difficult stretches in life's road and help them develop the skills to navigate life's difficulties using their spiritual resources.

Our deepest wounds are often those that are at the hands of another person. Human brokenness is the root of our need for redemption. This holds true in therapy and growth work as well. When we encounter our deep wounds, we encounter our need for our Big God. Here, we are able to reconcile the broken our hurt parts of our ourselves. Dr. Vanes been a pastor's wife for 15 years and is trained in integrated counseling with Masters degrees in Theology, Clinical Psychology, and Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a Master's in Clinical Psychology: Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific Universality. I work with many clients who have had traumatic experiences with religion or church, who may have even been hesitant to contact me because I am a believer. My feedback from these clients has been overwhelmingly positive. Spiritual trauma is all too prevalent. I also work with those who prefer me because of my Christian faith. No matter your background, whether a religious person or otherwise, I meet clients on their terms as they work to explore what they believe, not what I believe.

Because I know that not all Christians believe the same things, I aid you in using your Christian beliefs to find Godly solutions to your concerns. It is not my goal to have you believe in the same manner in which I believe but to aid you in living by the beliefs in which you hold.

As a Christian based counselor I integrate psychological principles with spiritual perspectives, allowing individuals to explore their concerns within the context of our Christian faith. My expression of Christian counseling promotes a sense of identity, purpose, calling, hope, and meaning., helping clients find strength and guidance in their relationship with God. The process will include prayer, utilizing scripture to help validate what the client is going through, and other spiritual practices as therapeutic tools, fostering spiritual growth, healing, and a greater connection with God.

The ultimate goal of Christian counselors is to help their clients reestablish and reaffirm their relationship with God, themselves and their social circle. Christian counselors strive to help the client overcome spiritual, mental, social and behavioral problems within the framework of these three dimensions while keeping God at the center of the relationships.

As an experienced Christian Counselor and ordained pastor, over the last 15 years I’ve been blessed to help hundreds of men find hope and healing using both psychological and Biblical principles. I believe that Christ is the ultimate source of hope and healing in this life. But I also believe that he’s given us the gift of rational minds, able to discern scientific and psychological truths built into the fabric of His amazing creation. My approach is grounded firmly in Scripture, but I don’t use Scripture as a weapon. You don’t need more guilt, but rather, a reminder of God’s promises and a compassionate guide to support you.

As a believer and Ordained Minister of The Gospel I offer compassionate, biblical, non judgemental help to all of my clients. Offering a safe place for you to share your hurts, stuggles,fears and to be heard. Being a Christian does not mean that we will be exempt of life's trials or hardships, but with God we can live a victorious and peace filled life regardless of our situations. God alone is our healer and I honor Him as the one who truly heals. My desire is to be the vessel through which His healing, understanding, compassion and hope are imparted to you.

When people of faith claim a connection to their God, they benefit from using a counselor that can frame their struggles in words that are reflected in their faith. With an understanding that our lives fall under a Creator they are connected to, it is important that the counseling process acknowledge, support and guide in light of this connection. I have been ordained as Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). I trained at both Perkins School of Theology (at SMU) and Amberton University. My counseling practice is a "Validated Ministry" within Grace Presbytery.

It is amazing how powerful it is to realize we do not have to do this life alone and that there really is a loving God who wants to love us and walk with us so that we can fulfill the dreams that He has placed in our hearts during this journey of life on planet earth. I was raised in a Christian household myself so I have an appreciation for the values instilled by religion, the importance of tradition, and the strength of community. My approach to counseling is humanistic and welcoming of all spiritualities. Though I do not incorporate any specific pastoral counsel, I encourage my spiritual clients to draw on their beliefs during the counseling process.

I believe Jesus is our healer and that he can, wants to and will come close to the broken hearted. I provide tools to help each client become closer to Christ their healer. I believe the Bible is the infallible word of God, and that it is the standard rule of faith and conduct. I believe there is one God, in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I also believe that Jesus is the Son of God, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sins and was raised as atonement for our sins.
