At Christ Centered Counseling we assist children, ages nine and older, with modifying their inappropriate behavior and with learning self-control skills. Children learn cognitive and behavioral skills as they begin to incorporate biblical principles into their lives. Bible stories are utilized to assist children with understanding Christ-like age appropriate behavior.

My master's degree (Cornell) is in child development. I have worked more than 40 years with families, agencies and schools on ALL child problems, including birth defects and all developmental and behavioral problems. As a family therapist, I help parents figure out alternative ways to deal with child and family issues, including things like foster parenting, adoption, intrafamily strife, sibling battles, etc. I offer child assessments - IQ, learning disability, slow learning, and all behavior areas. I regularly work with pediatricians and other child specialists to help children of all ages.

I specialize in the treatment of young children. My treatment approach varies depending on the child's needs. However, I am trained in play therapy, behavioral-based therapies, and parental training. One treatment model that I am trained in is Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). PCIT aims to help improve the parent-child relationship through interaction. I help parents develop more effective parenting techniques and reduce behavior issues with the child.

I see children five years old and up in my practice, and love helping them learn to see their potential and their innate gifts. I use directive play therapy to stimulate kids to think differently about their problems, cope with stress (including directions from authority figures) and enrich their inner lives. Teenagers will receive talk therapy, modified and tailored to their maturity level and challenges. Parenting consultations are an essential part of this process, so parents and caregivers can expect to be able to ask questions and get new parenting tools (and refinement of their existing ones).
