My approach as a psychotherapist is that I look for strengths and solutions. My sessions are longer (2 hours) to give enough time to share what there is to get done and how it is affecting clients functioning, as well as to add some processes that calms the nervous system and change problematic patterns that are not beneficial, and end the session with some mindfulness relaxation to integrate our work. As a licensed individual, marriage, and family therapist, I pay special attention to how past and present relationships shape identity and influence stress. Psychotherapy can be defined as "talk therapy." The main goal of this type therapy is to help people talk through their problems with the intent of them working through their issues. Our approach to the counseling process is a little different than this. We have more of a training process approach to helping people work through their problems. That training process involves taking a deeper look at the cause of their problems. Then we give Biblical counsel as to what a person can do to change their thinking about specific problems that will cause a change in their behavior.

I pracatice holisitc therapy that engages mind, body and spirit. I try to create an accepting environment that feels safe and conducive to honest open conversation. I also help clients identify their inner "parts" and to engage in a useful dialogue with them. Healing comes from insight, selfawareness and behavioral change. We work together to make sure these changes are occuring inorder for the client or couple to have a more enjoyable life with successful relationships.
