Eating disorders don't come out of nowhere. Our symptoms happen for a reason. We will explore how you came to have an unhealthy relationship with food and your own body. By unraveling the mystery behind your symptoms, you will begin to heal, and food will become less important with each passing day. You will come to understand that food was never really the answer, even if your entire life revolves around food today. I will help you to understand how to feel your feelings, live your life, and learn to trust in relationships and people instead of food. You are in charge - the food doesn't really have the power that we allow it to have. Let me help you in this healing process. Just ask

While most eating disorder issues are treated by cognitive behavioral methodologies or specialized outpatient/inpatient programs, Grey Matters International and the work of Kevin J. Fleming, PhD provide relief first and foremost for the brain of one suffering from an eating disorder----without giving them medication. We believe that the neural circuitries responsible for the compulsive behaviors with eating are not necessarily only a neurotransmitter issue but of overused neural networks that affect the harmonization, balance, and decisions of the whole brain. I have several years of clinical experience working in an eating disorder treatment center at a partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) level of care. I have continued to work with clients around body image issues, disordered eating, and eating disorders as a outpatient therapist. While the work is difficult, I believe there is hope for recovery! My approach is holistic and I will often recommend a nutritionists (experienced working with eating disorders) to work with you as we discover your path for recovery.

Eating disorders are complex problems. They can be rooted in self-esteem based concerns. They may also be rooted in societal pressures or need for control in one's life. Some folks with eating disorders have a family history which informs the problem. Looking at family history and/or social messages can help inform the root cause of such struggles.
