My approach to counselling is attachment based and trauma informed. I have extensive training in Emotionally-Focused Therapy, the gold standard in couple's therapy, which I apply in my work with couples, families, and individuals. During our sessions I take an engaged and active role in the process, focused on helping you to identify the areas where you may be stuck and working with you to make changes aligned with your goals.

As a gestalt psychotherapist, who pairs gestalt training with somatic experiencing I can help support you in healing from your trauma. No one in the Niagara Region utilizes the combination of these therapies and applies them to working with couples in crisis. I am sorry to say but popular approaches to healing trauma like CBT will provide only temporary relief at best. If you want to get to the root of your trauma and heal somatic experiencing (SE) is what you need and when supported with the power of relational gestalt therapy you will shift your shit! SE focuses on regulating your nervous system. Gestalt focuses on awareness, contact and authenticity, it will help being relational.

I have received instruction in a variety of different types of therapy, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Positive Psychology, Psychoanalysis, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I draw from all of these when I work with my clients, finding what will work best for the individual to address the concerns that brought them to therapy.

When it comes to mental health, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing. The same is true for psychotherapy. Considering your unique needs and concerns, I draw on multiple therapeutic models to create a custom approach just for you. I also believe that therapy doesn't have to be stuffy. We'll share laughter and authentic human connection even as you're gaining insights into your issues and learning skills for addressing them.

Psychotherapy is a specialized form of therapy focused on deep, long-term change by exploring the root causes of emotional and psychological issues. Unlike general therapy, which may address immediate concerns or offer practical advice, psychotherapy delves into the complexities of your past experiences and patterns. My approach aims to foster profound personal growth and lasting healing by understanding and transforming the underlying factors affecting your well-being. As a dedicated psychotherapist, I offer a transformative approach to explore and address the root causes of your challenges. Please schedule a free consultation with me to see if we are a good fit.

James Hillman once said, "We've had a hundred years of psychotherapy and the world is getting worse." While there are many occasions where the validation and listening endemic to psychotherapy makes sense, there are times where we over assume that "feeling better" and "changing behavior" are the same. Grey Matters International, Inc. goes after the forgotten brain laws to behavior change that therapists miss when processing hours and hours of dialogues with people. Utilizing a cutting edge technology to facilitate the emotional process of change, we can make the therapy process way more effective, faster, and with less money spent. I attended Adler University in Chicago where I specialized in Psychoanalysis. Classical Adlerian Psychotherapy is unique in the sense that each client has their own individual type of therapy. The overall goal of the therapy is to establish a relationship between client and community in order not only to challenge unhealthy and unrealistic thoughts of the world, but also to challenge client's to replace self-defeating behaviors for ones that will lead to a more positive and healthy lifestyle.

In my therapeutic approach you will gain experience in identifying your thoughts and emotions and how this ultimately impacts your behaviour. By understanding the patterns that are keeping you stuck, we can work to create new healthier patterns that will help you relate to yourself, others, and the world around you in a more positive way. Often we can feel like we are a slave to our mind. My approach will help you get back into the driver seat of your life where you can begin to make choices that feel good for you and get you closer to living the life you want to live.
