Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Marriage and Family Therapist

Clients who embrace Christianity have tended to shy away from psychotherapy, believing that psychology and Christianity are inherently at odds with each other. I practice psychotherapy in a way which honours the deeply held traditions of the Christian faith while incorporating aspects of psychology which are both helpful and faithful to the teachings of Scripture.

I hold a Masters of Divinity in Clinical Counselling from Tyndale University. I also spent over 20 years involved in various Christian Leadership roles. I do not practice or hold to this religion any longer. In my clinical work, I work with clients who are processing spiritual abuse/trauma and I regularly work with clients who are navigating deconstruction. I believe it is important to clarify, I am affirming and fully accepting of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I consider myself an ally to this community. In my clinical work, I consider it an honour to work with members of this community who have been wounded by the Christian Church.

For many Christians it can be beneficial to their success in therapy to have a therapist that holds an understanding and respect for their religious and spiritual beliefs. I work with Christian clients to combine evidence based psychotherapeutic techniques with piety, humility, forgiveness, faith development, spiritual development, and community. I believe that to heal is to grow in Christ’s love and I would be honoured to work with you in that endeavour. Please reach out for a free consult to discuss if I am the right choice for you.

As a Christian, I greatly appreciate how faith and spirituality play a role in our daily lives. Yet God still calls us to be in the world and to experience many different aspects of human life, even things we think God could fix. Making sense of the differences between what we believe God wants and what we face daily can be distressing and lead to despair and depression. Talking about these losses with someone with a similar faith can be vital as we navigate these challenges. If you want to speak to someone with a similar faith to your own or someone who understands the spiritual journey, I would be glad to be your therapist.
