For so many years I couldn't find my passion which created a lot of drawbacks in my life. Today I don't see these as drawbacks but stepping stones to be where I am today. Changing careers by returning to university education in my forties gives me unique insight into the possibilities. While I enjoyed my first career, it did not provide the level of personal satisfaction of my second! Though you may not have the intention, or be in the position, to make immediate changes, you can begin to build toward your dreams right away. There are many tools available to help you explore the possibilities and open your eyes and heart to a new you.

Your chosen career path is a reflection of where you want to go and what you want to accomplish in your lifetime. However, due to physical, mental, economic, familial, or emotional limitations, among others, it is possible that you may feel you are unable to work towards your desired career path. Additionally, it is possible that you may be unaware of what your career path might be. In career therapy, we will explore your interests, desires, strengths and challenges, your spirituality, education level and social, political or economical limitations, to discover what work might be meaningful, suitable and fruitful for you. We will then create a plan to work towards your desired career path.

My approach to helping clients in the area of work and career often relates to interpersonal problems in employment settings, difficulties managing work-life balance, and questions surrounding changing careers. Often clients come in with concerns around how to make changes to their employment situation, and they have various anxieties surrounding the risk that comes with making these life changes. In treatment, I help clients address their anxieties and fears, and we work together to seek solutions.
