Anxiety can consume a person's life, making it unbearable. I aim to help you learn to understand how your thoughts contribute to anxiety symptoms. By learning to change those thought patterns, you will learn how to reduce the likelihood and intensity of anxiety symptoms. Using behavioural therapy, you will learn techniques to reduce undesired behaviours associated with anxiety disorders. You will learn to manage your anxiety when situations provoke anxiety and how to manage and thrive in spite of the expectation of anxiety.

Dealing with anxiety is difficult as it is the body's natural response to a perceived threat and that response, is unique to each individual and can often present itself as a sense of discomfort, emotional reactions, physical sensations, and unhelpful behavioural patterns. Your anxiety can be triggered through situational or environmental events and can often feel chronic. Schedule a free consultation to me to see if I am the right fit to help you manage your anxiety.

External stressors cause internal reactions as a survival mechanism. Fight, flight, freeze! being tense and constantly hypervigilant is exhausting and often leads to the development of fatigue and generally unhelpful habits (working too much, drinking too much, eating too much, using anger to obtain what we and then feeling guilty & ashamed). Learning to relax, have fun and enjoy life on its own terms is critical. To help people accomplish this task, I start with providing education about what happens physiologically when we are under stress. Then, I teach CBT based strategies including confronting unhelpful thought patterns, exposure and connecting with and processing difficult emotions.

Are you feeling stressed, exhausted, burned out, and run down? Have you been exposed to stress and trauma through your work as a front-line healthcare professional? Our biological bodies and brains were not designed for the types of financial, cultural, social, and relational stressors we live with today. I see anxiety as a reminder to start listening to our body, our mind, and spirit. I can help you with Mindfulness-based stress reduction and self-care approaches to guide you toward a more peaceful, meaningful, and fulfilling life.

Anxiety is a difficult and often paralyzing challenge to overcome. I use a combination of narrative and cognitive-behavioural approaches to addressing this issue. Clients can expect to learn about how their thoughts patterns reinforce experiences of anxiety and will gain insight into how their past experiences may have made them vulnerable to the influence of anxiety. Clients can expect to cultivate their attributes, knowledges or intentions to put them up against the anxiety and move forward with their life in the way that they prefer.

We all experience anxiety and stress from time to time. Stress from life cannot be eliminated but it can be ameliorated. Through psychoeducation I can teach you how stress and anxiety are adaptive and life saving. You can learn how to get out of your caveman brain and move into pre-frontal cortex brain to relieve symptoms of anxiety. I can teach you about anxiety responses: fight, flight, freeze and fawning, and how not to fear these anymore. Don't forget to breathe!

Let's annihilate anxiety by turning off the (false) alarm system that is wreaking havoc on your thoughts and teach you how your brain tricks you into believing you are in danger. Even if you feel worried in your body, we can help settle that too. Our evolutionary alarm system was designed to protect us from sabre toothed tigers, unfortunately, unlike software, it's not upgradable. That's where a therapist comes in. Your own personal tech support for anxiety, will have you understanding the workings of the "smoke detector" and teach you how to keep it working properly... and not firing out false alarms!

As a Somatic (SE) therapist- mental & emotional health follows the state of the nervous system. If it is flowing seamlessly between sympathetic and parasympathetic; arousal and settling, within a “manageable range” there’s a deep, internal sense of well-being, emotional stability, confidence, clear thinking, aliveness, trust in self and others, and mastery. With SE we will focus on: Your experiences... in the body Learn to track, observe, describe what is going on for you Regulate internal arousal states, shift locked patterns into action, increase body awareness. Encourage emotional engagement with attention to: mindfulness, sensations, movements and impulses. Here & Now find YOU!

Do you feel overwhelmed? Does anxiety and worry prevent you from living the way you would like? Counselling can give you a safe space to freely communicate and process your emotions. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is the most popular therapy for anxiety disorders. It has been shown to be highly effective in helping people with both generalized and social anxiety.
