Addictions often develop as a way to cope with underlying pain, stress, or trauma. In my work, I provide a safe, compassionate space to explore both the behaviours and the experiences behind them. Using Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing, and Polyvagal-informed approaches, along with CBT- and DBT-informed strategies, we focus on building coping skills, calming the nervous system, and fostering self-compassion. Together, we work toward understanding the roots of addictive patterns and creating lasting change.

Addiction comes in many forms whether it's substances, alcohol, sex, or internet but it's not the form that matters but the function that it is serving. Feeling out of control and unable to stop engaging in harmful behaviours can feel shameful, over-whelming and hopeless. My approach to addiction treatment is based in a harm reduction model. This approach acknowledges that maintaining abstinence may not be a realistic goal. Without judgement we will work together to set realistic goals that seek to reduce the negative impacts of your addiction. You may choose to explore the roots of your addiction and any other related issues. It will always be up to you. Contrary to what is believed, addiction usually starts with a positive impact on a person’s life and even sometimes saves their life.
