I help families identify how they interact with each other, to see and understand their own patterns of behavior. Together we determine which patterns are helpful and which get in the way. We keep interactions which help, and substitute new interactions for those that interfere. Family members talk to each other in the sessions. We replicate familiar, frustrating situations which occur at home. New solutions found in the sessions are then practiced and applied at home.

Most family therapists inadvertently create more chaos through their well-intentioned efforts to assist a family move through a change process. Why? Brains are inherently deregulated (all of us, may I add) and most talking and dialoguing misses brain-centric problems that need more intensive help.
