My approach with these clients I am firm about the need for them to attend either AA or NA and work with the Big Book and the 12 step program. I have also used hypnotherapy and EMDR habit control approach. Working with underlying issues may be appropriate and we look at spouses and family members who may be enabling the person’s addiction.
