Though I work with many folks who are not Christian in a more secular format, I hold a special place in my heart for fellow believers. Working with Christians gives a whole new dimension as well as tools that we can use based on God's promises that are not available to people of other faiths or who are agnostic/atheists. Having the same experience of God gives an extraordinary and powerful basis to work together.

I am skilled, knowledgeable, and have years of experience delivering spiritual and religious counseling to Christians and a variety of clients from other spiritual, religious groups, or perspectives, such as Jewish, Muslim, and Hindus, etc. Having taught world religions at the college level, I am comfortable with and have a diverse understanding of spirituality and religious thoughts within reasonable limits.

I received both my masters and doctoral degrees, along with related training, at Rosemead School of Psychology, one of the leading schools in the country focused on the integration of Christian faith and understanding of human nature with clinical counseling. Our faith can be an important, even central part of our lives. For many people having a therapeutic relationship where this part of themselves can be explored and where they can be open about their faith and relationship with God is hugely important. I understand this importance and so I provide an open, understanding space for addressing challenges, fears, and fostering personal and spiritual growth in a Christian context.

For many of us, growth in other areas of our life cannot be achieved without processing it through a Biblical lens. Audrey believes in helping Christians that would rather not work directly with a pastor/priest, but wishes to infuse their core belief systems into processes and exploring their long term goals and mental health concerns. Religious principles can sometimes lead to heightened feelings of shame and guilt. Counseling is a way to look at who we are. Spirituality is a big part of the human experience. It is my belief that within each of us is a beautiful soul. Some of us allow god to be a big part of our lives, while others question the concept of souls, god and spirituality. Wherever you may stand, you may still identify with a deeper part of yourself. You may call it whatever feels right for you. I would like to help bring that energy into the room (if it feels right for you) to help you heal, from accessing a wholesome, powerful, deep source within you.

At a time when Christianity is often attacked, it is difficult to find a place where individual and family conflicts can be worked through in counseling that is supportive of Christian beliefs. I was raised as a Christian and can understand and empathize with those who practice a Christian way of life, as well as a conservative view of life. I also understand how at times religious beliefs can come into conflict with personal strivings and need to be resolved. Mental health comes when one's religious beliefs and one's life are in harmony and one can live free of anxiety and doubt.

Yes, it is true we carry God with us, but we also need to carry a developed Self in order to have the curiosity and discipline to carry out what we believe to be God's wishes. With a stronger Self we also can differentiate our own wishes and needs. We can identify and delineate one feeling from the other. This is vital as our feelings serve as emissaries of our needs. To be a "good Christian" or a "good Jew, you must first understand what it takes to make an even better YOU. That is where I enter the picture.

Faith and spirituality can provide comfort and meaning to those guided by their beliefs. I was raised in a Christian household myself so I have an appreciation for the values instilled by religion, the importance of tradition, and the strength of community. My approach to counseling is humanistic and welcoming of all spiritualities. Though I do not incorporate any specific pastoral counsel, I encourage my spiritual clients to draw on their beliefs during the counseling process.
