Stress and anxiety are grounded in fear of an anticipated future. The mind makes up a scenario, suggests that it may be true and an anxiety and stress are born. Nothing has actually happened other than the mental event, yet this phenomenon accounts for the bulk of human suffering. As a therapist it is my job to help clients who tend to be anxious recognize the endless stream of stress producing conjecture as a mental phenomenon unrelated to reality. Working together we can often trace their tendency to anxiety to earlier life experiences and have them begin to see the automatic nature of their anxiety's generation - this helps them interrupt the process.

Art focuses on clients to re-encounter the positive skills they have already known and used, but that life problems made them temporarily forget. This way, clients rely on their own strengths and initiatives for their lives. When working with people who struggle with anxiety I teach skills that enable people to manage the daily stresses of life. This includes those struggling with generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias, post traumatic stress disorder, and panic disorder. By learning how to cope more effectively with these symptoms people learn how to live more functional and satisfying lives.

I leverage a solution-based approach to clearly outline your primary challenge, work through an exercise to meditate on and define your future state and then work over 8 sessions to achieve it via homework and 1:1 sessions. Clients have experienced great success with this approach, my goal is to empower you - YOU have the answers and I want to help you find them.
