I am an addiction specialist with over 20 years of addiction therapy experience and a PhD in addiction psychology. I use the bio-psycho-social-spiritual model and a holistic approach (in layman's terms - I work with each person as a unique individual). Some people benefit from 12 step approaches, other's do not. I have a wide range of tools in my tool box that help me to fine tune the treatment to the person - not the other way around. Recent brain imaging studies have convinced me that addiction is in the brain, not the bottle - and so I work extensively with people who have "process addictions" where gambling, sex, porn, internet, shopping, spending, and or gaming, are a problem.

I am educated in the field of Addictions, specifically alcohol, drugs, internet, food and gambling. I am able to help you reach your goals and/or engage your motivation for change. We can explore harm reduction and/or abstinance approaches depending on your preference. We can explore your narrative with your addiction and work on the underlying issues that trigger relapse. My non-judgemental and client centered approach may be what you need.

Addiction is not a moral failing, and recovery takes more than just willpower. All behaviour serves a purpose, and often alcohol or substance misuse results from an attempt to numb ourselves to past or present hurts, struggles, or trauma. Through an IFS approach, I can help you get to the root of the issues that are contributing to your alcohol or substance misuse and work towards true healing. At the same time, I can help you learn behavioural and cognitive skills to support your recovery.
