Grief is a challenging and complicated emotion. There is no timeline for grieving. I take a narrative approach to help clients process their loss. Individuals need to tell their story and experience the emotions in order to incorporate the loss into their life histories. Often we avoid painful emotions, but these emotions are integral to our life experience. I provide a safe and supportive environment for clients to process these difficult emotions.

Most people associate grief with the death of a loved one. Losing someone you love or care deeply about is very painful, but any loss can cause grief, including the loss of important relationships, your job, health, or sense of identity. After a significant loss, you may experience difficult and surprising emotions, such as shock, anger, and guilt. At times you may feel like the sadness will never end. Grief and loss shouldn’t remain center stage in your life. As you deal with your loss, remember that there are healthy ways to cope with the pain that can help you to move forward and strengthen you emotionally.
